Junta Air Force Bombs Maungdaw Town with Two Aerial Bombs

Maung Daw – June 24, 2026
The Junta Air Force carried out an airstrike on Maungdaw town today, dropping two bombs at approximately 11:40 AM local time.
The attack struck the vicinity of Aung Myay Bodhi ward in Ward 5, an area which formerly served as a Junta youth development center.
According to reports, the Arakan Army (AA) has been using the temple grounds in the area to provide arms training and enforce conscription among newly recruited Rohingya in the region. The AA is also reported to have established camps in local villages and other public areas.
While military sources assert that the airstrikes hit these AA positions and resulted in no troop casualties, the Arakan Army has yet to release a detailed official list of the dead and injured from its side.
The AARA team has urged the Arakan Army to relocate its bases away from public areas, citing the heightened risk of further retaliatory bombings. The Junta military is currently intensifying its efforts to recapture lost territory across the Arakan region.
Separate Incident in Kyauktaw and Linmataw
In a separate series of attacks today, residential neighborhoods, clinics, and temporary markets in the wards of Kyauktaw town and Linmataw village were bombarded by four fighter jets for approximately one hour. Those airstrikes resulted in the deaths of at least 9 civilians and left 18 others injured.
